After the first round of group matches at the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Russia, Super Eagles’ midfielder Oghenekharo Etebo has been named as one of the best players at in a list compiled by Sofascore, AOIFootball.com reports.
With the first round of matches rounding up with Senegal defeating Poland 2-1 on Tuesday, Etebo is the only Nigerian and African to be named in the Best XI which is dominated by Mexico after their impressive 1-0 win against defending champions Germany on matchday one.
Etebo, who scored an own goal against Croatia, was rated 7.8, completing a pass accuracy of 92.5%, winning 19 of his 23 duels contested, completing 100% dribbles, whilst also recording a stat as the most fouled player on the pitch after been brought down 9 times by opposition players.
Conspicuously missing from the list, however, is Argentina sensation, Lionel Messi, who performed below expectation in their opening group game against Iceland, missing a crucial penalty in that game.
