Ahead of their must-win clash against Iceland on Friday, Super Eagles Head Coach, Gernot Rohr has played down talks of his team being under pressure, and that they are ready to deliver all three points, reports.
Rohr, who was speaking at the Eagles’ pre-match press conference in Essentuki, assured Nigerians that they have worked on their set-piece mistakes as they hope to avert a reoccurrence against the Icelanders.
“The pressure I feel now is the same as I have always felt. It’s the usual pressure to win and do well for Nigeria. There is no need to add to this pressure. More pressure on the team will not translate to better results.
“We have watched the game against Croatia again to see our mistakes so we can correct them. I  observed that Croatia’s only shot at goal was in the 71st minute when they scored their penalty but that is football,” Rohr said.
When asked about his team’s chances against world cup debutants, Iceland, Rohr admitted that it will be a very tough match but the Eagles are 100% up to the task.
“It will be a tough game. We have to be at our best and be more professional with our defending especially set pieces. We have to be fully focused and not lose concentration all through the game. I believe with hard work we can get a good result,” Rohr concluded.
