After their win against debutants Iceland on Friday, players of the Super Eagles of Nigeria took to the social media to express their joy and gratitude to God and Nigerians, AOIFootball.com reports.
Led by their captain Mikel Obi,
and backed by experienced defender Elderson Echiejile, and the likes of Kelechi Iheanacho, Wilfred Ndidi, and Troost-Ekong among others, the players expressed their gratitude to the fans.
“Thank you to all the @NGSuperEagles fans! You carried us through to victory; Nigeria on to the next one,” Mikel twitted.
“This is for the 180 million Nigerians #FIFAWorldCup2018Russia,” Ndidi said.
“God is faithful all the time. This was for 180 million Nigerians. Onto the next one Tuesday,” Ekong added.
“Amazing feeling! Great team performance. That win was for the whole of Nigeria. #SuperEagles,” Etebo echoed.
“You said you were behind us and we believed you. Thank you Nigerians for believing in us. This is for you. #soarsupereagles,” Echiejile said.
On his part, John Ogu added: “This win is for all Nigerians. Our focus now is against Argentina. Thank you for your prayers. Naija all the way.”
“Big win for us, morale booster. This victory is for you all, thanks for the amazing support. One more game to sail through the group stage hurdle. Excited for Ahmed Musa and the entire group. Let’s savour the moment and rejoice. #SoarSuperEagles,” Shehu said.
“All for millions of Naija. Thanks for your cry and support. Congrats to Governor Ahmed Musa on the record. Up Naija!” Iheanacho also added.
The Super Eagles still have all to do in their final game against Argentina as anything rather than a loss against a wounded Lionel Messi-led side will almost certainly confirm the country’s place in the knockout phase of the FIFA World Cup for the second consecutive edition.
