Super Eagles’ skipper, Mikel John Obi has thanked millions of football fans who supported the team throughout their campaign at the FIFA World Cup, saying that the team fought till the very last moment, reports.

Mikel who, said the team is still hurting from the outcome, could only watch on in dismay as the Argentines clinched the final Group D spot after a late strike from Marcos Rojo to earn them all three points.

“We fought until the end and we are all hurting with you. Your support has driven us throughout the World Cup and we cannot thank you enough,” Mikel twitted.

Having represented Nigeria at all age grade competitions which has seen him clinch a silver medal at the world junior championship, a bronze medal at the Olympics and an AFCON title in 2013 in South Africa, it’s still not clear if the world cup in Russia will be his last major competition for the Super Eagles.
