Former Akwa United player, Afeez Aremu was the hero for his Norwegian club as he scored the winner for them to ease their relegation woes in their 2-1 win against strugglers Stabæk Football at the Sor Arena in Kristiansand, reports.

With both sides occupying 14th and 15th positions before kickoff, the first half was stabbed of entertainment as both teams played dominantly in their territory with the half ending goalless.

But with the beginning of the second 45 minutes, the away side broke the deadlock after just 120 seconds of the restart when Tonny Brochmaan converted a neatly worked ball by Franck Boli to put Stabæk one goal up.

The goal spurred IK Start back to life and they duly levelled up just on the hour mark when Kevin Kabran nodded in a Simon Larsen cross to balance the tie, much to the delight of the home fans.

The home fans were however thrown into ecstasy 40 seconds later when Nigeria’s Afeez Aremu scored an individually brilliant goal which later proved to be the match winner for IK start.

Aremu, who scored his third goal in the process, was on for the entire match duration. He completed 74% of his passes, won 10 of his duels contested and completed 4 tackles, whilst also hitting the woodwork once.

The win lifts IK Start to 15th on the table with 14 points from 16 matches as they head into the midseason break in Norway.
