*Wants offensive role with the Potters
Super Eagles’ midfielder, Oghenekharo Etebo has said he’s optimistic of a good fortune at new club Stoke City, even as he officially joins the club this weekend for pre-season training, can authoritatively report.
The Rio 2016 Olympic bronze medalist, who was a revelation in the midfield for Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia, told AOIFootball.con exclusively in Nigeria where he is still relaxing with his family, that he will officially join the rest of the team this weekend for the new season.
“Well I’m happy about my new club and I want to make things right. It will be a different terrain for me but I’m always ready for challenges and this won’t be an exception.
“Stoke is a big club and they deserve to be among the top. Playing for promotion will definitely be our priority and I’m ready for the task ahead,” Etebo enthused.
When asked where he would prefer to play, especially with reports linking Swiss star Xhadan Shaqiri out of the club, the former CD Feirense midfielder posited that playing offensively would be his most preferred position.
“I prefer to play in the offensive role in the middle of the park because it gives me the freedom to express myself, but that is not my decision to make as the coaches will decide where best I can play to help the team achieve its aim,” Etebo concluded.
The Eagles midfielder will most likely miss his side’s clash against Walsall this weekend but will definitely fly with the team to Germany next Monday for a training camp, as they intensity preparation for life in the English Championship.
