Super Eagles’ striker, Odion Jude Ighalo continued his goals scoring form for the second consecutive game, but could not stop his club from losing 2-1 at home to Shandong Luneng, AOIFootball.com reports.
Still smarting from his record-breaking goal last Tuesday, Ighalo opened the scoring for Changchun with 24 minutes played when he cunningly evaded the attention of four markers to convert a Xiaodong Fan pass, a lead they held going into the halftime break.
Unbeaten in their previous ten matches, Shandong equalised two minutes after the break when former Southampton striker Graziano Pelle scored from a Diego Tardelli cross.
With the game becoming more of a ding-dong affair, Serbian defender, Nemanja Pejçinovic put through his own goal seven minutes after the hour mark to put the visitors ahead, a lead they held till the final whistle.
Ighalo was on for the entire match duration and netted his 8th league goal of the campaign. He also completed 100% of his dribbles, 85% of his passes, whilst also winning 6 duels contested and finishing with a game rating of 7.6.
The result leaves Changchun 13th on the log with fourteen points while Shandong climbs up to the summit with 27 points after 13 matches.
