Super Eagles’ captain, John Obi Mikel was conspicuously missing in action as Tianjin Teda ended their three-match losing streak with a hard fought 3-2 victory away at Dalian Yifang, reports.

Having made his first appearance last weekend following the wrist injury he sustained at the FIFA World Cup, the Tianjin midfielder might have had a relapse of the injury as reports have it that he missed the game due to precautionary reasons.

Goals from Yanyi Li(61), Jiakang Hui(65) and Frank Acheampong(70) put Teda in the ascendency before late strikes from Nyasha Mushekwi(80) and Ming’an Cui (88) set up a nervy finish as Tianjin held on for the victory.

The win lifts Tianjin to ninth on the table with 18 points after 14 round of matches.
