Super Eagles’ captain, John Obi Mikel has disclosed that a slight knee injury kept him out of Tianjin Teda’s last weekend’s clash against Dalian Yifang, squashing reports that he might be out for a longer period, AOIFootball.com reports.
The former Chelsea midfielder further told AOIFootball.com exclusively that he could be back in action this weekend against Hebei CFC.
“Yes, I had a slight knee injury, but not so serious; hopefully I will play this weekend.
“We have a game on Thursday but I have not gotten the all clear from the medics so maybe on Sunday I will return to the field,” Mikel added.
Tianjin is currently 10th on the 16-team log with 18 points after 14 games and will most likely need the services of their talismanic midfielder to help them avoid a repeat of last season where they struggled in his absence.
