FK Ventspils of Latvia striker, Akinyemi Adeleke Akinola has revealed to AOIFootball.com exclusively that Super Eagles’ Coach Gernot Rohr told him to continue his superb form.
Akinola who has been in superb form of late, scoring in all but one of his last six outings, said he was honoured to have met the Franco-German manager in France whilst hoping the pair can work together soon.
“It was an honour for me to have met with the Super Eagles’ coach. I was surprised when I saw him and he spoke at length with me and my teammates.
“He told me to continue doing well on the field of play and hopefully I may get a call-up for the upcoming game next month,” Akinyemi revealed.
The 19-year-old attacker further went on to disclose that playing for Nigeria will be the greatest achievement of his career.
“I know I’m still very young but playing for my country will be a very big step in my career. I hope it comes soon but if not I will wait for my time,” the young star concluded.
At just 19, Akinyemi is arguably the country’s most lethal goal poacher across the globe with 20 goals from just 19 outings this season and will definitely be a contender to make Gernot Rohr’s squad for next month’s AFCON qualifier against Seychelles.
