Super Eagles’ striker, Odion Jude Ighalo equaled his league goal tally in China as he was on target for the 15th time when Changchun Yatai were humbled 5-2 away at Guangzhou R&F, AOIFootball.com reports.
Yatai were unbeaten in their last four league matches and deservedly took the lead when Nigeria’s Ighalo fired them in front after just 12 minutes, much to the delight of the visiting fans.
However, their joy was short-lived as three quick goals in the space of eighteen minutes from Junior Urso (27), Dusko Tosic (38) and Zhi Ciao (45) put the home side 3-1 up going into the break.
Guangzhou came out smoking in the second half, adding a fourth via the boot of Eran Zahavi on 73 minutes before Long Tan made it 4-2 five minutes later.
Zahavi got his brace on the stroke of 90 minutes and his 16th of the campaign to stay second ahead of Ighalo in the golden boot race as Guangzhou ran out 5-2 winners.
Ighalo was on for the entire match duration, with a game rating of 6.7, completing 87% of his passes and winning three of his 5 duels contested.
The Eagles’ striker has now scored 53% of Changchun’s league goals this season 29 (15); they remain 9th on the log with 24 points from 19 games
