Super Eagles’ captain, Mikel John Obi made an impressive comeback from injury as he starred in Tianjin Teda’s one all draw at home to Jiangsu Suning, handing Eagles’ Coach Gernot Rohr a major boost ahead of next month’s AFCON qualifiers, reports.
The Tianjin midfielder had been missing in action for a month and returned to feature in the heart of the midfield as Teda continued their amazing rise on the CSL table.
The visitors took the lead after just 11 minutes when Eder finished off a pass from Tiang Gap but Teda responded seven minutes after the half-hour mark with a fine strike from Hao Guo.
Both teams tried to carve out a winner in the second half but a spirited display by both goalkeepers ensured the match ended in a draw as Teda remained unbeaten in four fixtures, their best run this season.
The Eagles’ captain had a game rating of 7.0, completing 91% of his passes and 100% dribbles. He also won nine of his 14 duels contested as Tianjin move to 6th on the table with 26 points from 19 matches.
