Super Eagles’ forward, Henry Onyekuru announced himself at Galatasaray with a stunning finish in the Turkish side’s win over Goztepe, securing himself a place in the country’s national sports dailies, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Nigerian, who joined the Turkish champions on-loan from Everton, notched the only goal of the game as he deftly lobbed the bouncing ball over goalkeeper Goktug Bakirbas from 30 yards, much to the admiration of fans present at the stadium.
The match-winning performance was enough to place him on the back of national newspaper Vatan, with the headline: ‘Ne Dolar kuru… Ne Euro kuru… Hoş geldin Onyekuru’ which translates (according to Google) as ‘No dollar exchange rate, no euro exchange rate, welcome to Onyekuru’.
Onyekuru did also catch the eye of parent club Everton, who will be hoping the Nigerian secures a work permit in time to feature under the plans of Marko Silva next season.
The Blues signed Onyekuru for £7 million last summer and immediately loaned him to Anderlecht, but his promising campaign was cut short due to a knee ligament injury.
