Super Eagles’ Coach, Gernot Rohr has named a 25-man list for the must-win clash AFCON 2019 qualifying clash against Seychelles, handing debut call-ups to three new players, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Franco-German made the list public with four players placed on standby in a press conference in Lagos on Friday afternoon.
Without captain Mikel John Obi and the retired Victor Moses, coupled with injury to the duo of Abdullahi Shehu and Tyronne Ebuehi, the Eagles’ gaffer surprisingly calls up former U-20 defender Oluwasemilogo Ajayi who plays for Rotherham in the championship and Germany-based Jamilu Collins who plies his trade in Paderborn in the German Bundesliga 2.
Similarly, Kelechi Nwakali gets rewarded for his fine debut against Atletico Madrid last May, with a chance for his full international debut presented to him by the coach, while new Bordeaux signing Samuel Kalu also got an invite.
Despite series of criticisms, in-form striker Odion Ighalo also makes the cut, whilst France-based Elderson Echiejile is the big name conspicuously missing from the squad that represented the country in Russia.
