Super Eagles’ goalkeeper Francis Odinaka Uzoho believes his move to Segunda division club Elche from Deportivo La Coruna will spell greatness in his young and amazing career, reports.
Uzoho, who made history at the FIFA World Cup in Russia, when he became the youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over Iceland, posted to express his joy in completing the transfer.
“A new journey to greatness. Thank you to everyone who made this happen,” Uzoho said.
Earlier in the day, Elche posted on their twitter account to confirm Uzoho’s arrival as they hope he can bring his vast world cup experience to help the club return to the Spanish LaLiga next season.
“The club and the R.C. Deportivo de la Coruña have agreed the transfer of goalkeeper Francis Uzoho on a one-year loan deal which comes after he played for Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia,” read a statement on Elche’s official website.
Uzohi will have his medical at the club on Monday and will resume training with his teammates afterwards.
The 19-year- old made two appearances for Deportivo La Coruna in the Spanish La Liga Santander last season before dropping down to the B side where he played 28 games with Deportivo La Coruna Fabril in the Segunda B.
