Super Eagles’ midfielder, Mikel Agu has joined Portuguese side Vitoria Setubal on a season-long loan from FC Porto despite reported interests from European clubs wanting to sign the player on a permanent transfer, reports.
The midfielder, who was keen on leaving Porto before the end of the transfer window after being frozen out of the first team on his return from Bursaspor, wanted a permanent move away from the Portuguese giants but was denied, thus settling to return for a second stint with Setubal.
Agu, however, revealed to exclusively that despite not being able to secure a permanent move, he will continue to work hard and help his new team Setubal achieve their aim this season.
“It has not been an easy summer for me because I had several offers from series of the club earlier, even Club Brugge came for me, but there is a reason why things turned out like this. I’m positive I will have a very good season here,” Agu explained.
The loan move will be Mikel Agu’s second stint at Setubal after initially joining them in the 2016/2017 season where he made 27 appearances for the club.
