Super Eagles’ defender, William Troost-Ekong believes the team has put their outing at the Russia World Cup behind them, and are ready reignite their 2019 AFCON qualifiers with a win away at Seychelles, reports.

The Udinese of Italy defender spoke to  ahead of the must-win clash, highlighting the team’s readiness to return to winning ways after their dismal outing in Russia.

“The World Cup is behind us now. It was hard for all of us, but I still look back with pride about the team. Our World Cup experience has definitely made us more hungry to qualify for the AFCON and to go all the way to win it.

“I think we have demonstrated that when Nigeria plays at its best, there aren’t many teams we have to fear. But it will be a hard job in the next two months and I know the boys and staff are taking these games seriously. But of course, I believe if we perform well, we will qualify,” Ekong said.

The 25-year- old defender further added that playing for Nigeria remains one of the best moments of his footballing career as he hopes to add to the Olympic bronze he won in 2016.

“It has been amazing being able to represent the Super Eagles in the past years. I am proud of the medal we brought home to Nigeria with the Olympics team and aim to win something now with the Super Eagles before I’ll be content,” Ekong concluded.
