Super Eagles’ captain, Mikel John Obi will make his 15th league start on Friday for Chinese Super League side, Tianjin Teda when they entertain high flyers Shanghai SIPG in matchday 22 with the hope of returning to victory for the first time in five outings, AOIFootball.com reports.
Mikel was excused from Nigeria’s games against Seychelles and Liberia respectively but will now return to action with Teda as they go in search of victory against his former Chelsea teammate Oscar who plays for Shanghai.
Teda are currently 11th on the log with 26 points after 21 round of matches but must be at their brilliant best if they are to earn victory over Shanghai who are currently second with 43 points after playing one matchless.
In his 15 previous matches, Mikel has already bettered his last season’s haul, scoring once and setting up 2.
He also has a pass completion rate of 84%, winning 55% of his duels and also completing 89% of his dribbles.
