Mikel John Obi in action for Tianjin Teda away at Jiangsu Suning
Super Eagles’ skipper, Mikel John Obi returned to the starting lineup for Chinese side Tianjin Teda but could not stop them from losing 1-0 away to Guizhou Hengfeng, reports.
The former Chelsea midfielder started his 16th league match of the season for the visitors, but a first-half strike from Kaimu Zheng was all the hosts needed to seal all three points, with Tianjin suffering their fourth defeat in seven games as they remain winless in two months.
Mikel played in a more advanced attacking role and was on for the entire match duration, earning a game rating of 6.8, completing 83% of his passes, making one key pass, winning eight of his duels contested and was also fouled 5 times. He also made two clearances and 1 interception.
The result, however, leaves Tianjin in 12th position with 27 points from 24 matches, 5 points off the relegation zone with six games left to be played.
