Former Super Eagles forward, Julius Aghahowa believes the form of striker Odion Ighalo should be enough to guarantee him a place among the nominees for the best player in the continent after his impressive goal-scoring form this season, reports.

The former Wigan attacker, who spoke to exclusively, believes the Changchun captain has done enough to be considered as one of the best forwards the continent can boast of.

“Ighalo deserves all the accolades he has been getting over the past few weeks because, despite the shaky World Cup performance, he picked himself up and showed he still has what it takes to play at the biggest stage.

“For sure he deserves to be nominated among the best players on the continent, considering he has scored well over 20 goals this season for club and country. He’s doing well and I believe he should be recognized for his hard work,” Aghahowa concluded.

At 29, Ighalo has been in imperial form this season, netting 21 times in 26 league appearances for Changchun Yatai, whilst scoring six times for Nigeria in his last three outings for the Super Eagles.
