New Super Eagles’ invitee and former U-17 World Cup winner, Samuel Chukwueze, scored his first senior goal for Spanish side Villarreal in their pulsating 3-3 against Almeria in the first leg Copa del Rey clash, AOIFootball.com reports.
Chukwueze was recently invited for Nigeria’s upcoming games against South Africa and Uganda. He started his fourth game of the season as both failed to test each other with the first half ending goalless.
The second half did, however, come to life seven minutes after the restart when Chema Nunez put the hosts ahead from the penalty spot before Santi Cazorla equalized seven minutes later.
Villarreal then took the lead on the 78th minute when Francisco Callejon put through his own goal before Samuel Chukwueze then made it 3-1 after being set up by Nicol Sansone with just seven minutes left on the clock.
Almeria however leveled matters late on when Sekou Gassama scored twice in stoppage time to earn them a 3-3 result.
The return leg in December will decide who progresses to the next round.
Samuel was on for the entire match duration and earned a game rating of 7.4, completed 66% of his passes, 100% of his tackles and won 3 of his contested duels.
