With just less than 10 days to the opening match of the 11th edition of the African Women Cup of Nations in Ghana, the Appeals Committee of the Confederation of African Football on Wednesday night ruled that Equatorial Guinea were right to field player Annette Jacky against Kenya, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Appeal Board of Confédération Africaine de Football held a meeting in order to decide on the appeal of Equatorial Guinea.
Regarding the eligibility protest against player Annette Jacky Messomo during the match number 30, Equatorial Guinea vs Kenya played in the frame of the Total African Women’s Cup of Nations 2018, the Appeal Board decided as follows :
“The appeal lodged by the Federación Ecuatoguineana de Fútbol is admissible;
The decision no 001-CAI-08.09.2018 is overruled;
“The player Annette Jacky Messomo is eligible to play for the National Team of Equatorial Guinea;
“The National Team of Equatorial Guinea is reintegrated in the Total African Women’s Cup of Nations 2018.
With this ruling, the two- time African champions will now replace Kenya in Group B and will compete alongside Nigeria, South Africa and Zambia in what his now tagged the group of death in the competition.
