Fans of Swedish club, Lillestrom have urged former Nigeria junior international, Matthew Ifeanyi not to quit the club at the end of the season, AOIFootball.com reports.
Mathew joined the club in July 2016 from Kano Pillars and has gone on to make well over 70 appearances for the club.
The player is currently attracting interests from other clubs in mainstream Europe despite having 18 months left on his current contract, a situation the fans are not finding funny.
To show their approval and love for him, the fans chanted his name during their 1-1 draw against Bodo/Gilt on Monday night with Mathew admitting he recognizes the fans support for him.
“I love the football and the fans here in Sweden. They have supported me since moving here and I try to replicate the support to them every time I get on the field.
“For now I’m with the team in our quest for survival this season; there have been speculations about me leaving but I don’t want to focus on that. I just want to concentrate and help the club avoid relegation,” Ifeanyi Mathew concluded.
