Super Eagles’ forward, Henry Onyekuru signed off for the international break in style as he scored a brace to end champions Galatasaray’s five-match winless run, defeating Kayserispor 3-0 away from home, AOIFootball.com reports.
The 21-year-old had endured a difficult outing over the past few months but ended his 9-match goal drought for Galatasaray to shoot them second on the league table.
The Everton loanee opened scoring for Fatih Terim’s men in the 18th minute after poking home from a rebound before doubling his side’s lead half way through the second half, shrugging off his marker before calmly firing past the goalkeeper to score his fourth league goal of the season.
Kayserispor were then reduced to 10 men when Tiago Lopes was sent off for a second booking before Omer Bayran completed the rout two minutes from time to hand Galatasaray a morale boosting win.
Onyekuru was named Man of the Match, with a game rating of 8.2, completed 55% of his passes, 100% of his tackles and also won six of his twelve duels contested.
The Nigerian will now turn his attention to Nigeria’s crucial AFCON 2019 qualifiers against South Africa in Soweto after being called up as a replacement for injured Ighalo.
