Super Eagles’ forward, Simy Nwankwo scored on both sides of the pitch as his side Crotone lost 2-1 away to Perugia in the Serie B with another Nigerian Kingsley Michael grabbing an assist in the clash, AOIFootball.com reports.
The 26-year-old started only his fourth league match of the campaign, partnering Marco Firenze and Adrian Stolan upfront, but it was the home side who took the first half initiative when former U-17 star Kingsley Michael set up Valerio Verre to put Perugia 1-0 up.
Crotone did find themselves level 11 minutes after the restart when Simy dusted himself and converted from 12 yards to score his third league goal in four starts for the away side.
However, the Nigerian then put through his own goal three minutes after the hour mark to out Perugia back in front, a lead they held on to till the blast of the final whistle.
The result leaves Crotone just above the relegation playoff spot on 14th position with 12 points from their opening 12 league matches.
