The camp of the Super Eagles of Nigeria on Monday opened officially ahead of next Saturday’s crucial AFCON 2019 qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa, with the invited players expected to arrive at the team’s hotel in Asaba, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Eagles official twitter posted the itinerary of the team, stating that their training will be mostly secretive aside Wednesday’s session which will be open to the media.
“Ahead of our #2019AFCONQ vs @BafanaBafana. Our camp opens in Asaba Monday. Only the training session of Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2018 is open, other sessions will be closed.
“Our press parley holds next Monday, Nov. 19, ahead of the international friendly vs Uganda,” the Eagles official Twitter account read.
Similarly, AOIFootball.com can confirm authoritatively that Portugal-based midfielder Mikel Agu has already arrived the country and will fly in straight to Asaba on Monday morning ahead of the team’s first training session.
Agu, who his making his first return to the team since the World Cup snub, was in action on Friday night in Vitoria Setubal’s to a 2-1 win over Ferense.
Nigeria currently occupies the top spot in Group E with 9 points, one ahead of South Africa who have 8 points. The country will qualify for next year’s AFCON provided it avoids defeat next Saturday in Soweto.
