Still fresh from earning his first LaLiga start last weekend, Super Eagles’ new invitee, Samuel Chukwueze continued his prominent rise in Spain as he opened his league account in Villarreal’s 2-2 draw away at Rayo Vallecano, reports.
The 19-year-old, who was handed his second successive league start following his impressive run of form, opened scoring for the boys in Yellow three minutes after the half hour mark, finishing off a Romaria Funes Mori assist.
The goal however sprung Rayo back into the game with the home side deservedly getting their equalizer just on the dot of half time via the boots of Raul de Tomas.
Alvaro Garcia’s strike six minutes after the hour mark put Rayo 2-1 up before substitute Nicola Sansone equalised with his first touch of the ball, as both sides shared the points.
The goal will come as a morale booster for young Chukwueze who will be hoping to cap off a fine week with his first international cap when Nigeria takes on South Africa next Saturday.
Chukwueze now has two goals and one assist in six professional games for Villarreal this season after being promoted from the B team just at the start of the new campaign.
