Super Eagles’ forward, Henry Onyekuru has said that his goals-scoring heroics came at the right time when Nigeria clashes against South Africa, promising to replicate the same form if selected on Saturday, reports.
The Galatasaray striker, who was in amazing form at the weekend, netting a brace against Kayserispor, told shortly after his arrival in Nigeria that he’s fired up ahead of the clash.
“It was a good weekend for me in Turkey, but now I want to focus on the national team. It’s always a pleasure to play for Nigeria and I will always try to give my best on the pitch.
“I believe its a good thing for me that the goals came at the right time and it will no doubt boost my confidence ahead of the match. It won’t be an easy match but I’m confident we can get the desired result in Johannesburg,” Onyekuru said.
When asked if he’s under pressure to deliver for the national team, especially in the absence of Ighalo, the Everton loanee admitted he will just have to play his own game if given the chance by the coach.
The pacey winger will be bidding to start his first competitive game for Nigeria after coming on as a substitute in the games against Seychelles and Libya.
