Super Eagles’ forward, Kelechi Iheanacho is confident the team can avenge their 2-0 loss to the Bafana Bafana of South Africa last year in Uyo because they have now learnt from their mistakes, AOIFootball.com reports.
The Leicester City player, who spoke after the Eagles’ Tuesday’s training session, admitted that getting all three points might be difficult but he’s confident they can pull it off and qualify.
“We know what we have to do to ensure we qualify for the Nations Cup next year. They defeated us last year in Uyo, so I believe we can also defeat them in their own backyard.
“We know the task will be a difficult one but we are very optimistic of getting the desired point to ensure we make it to Cameroon,” Iheanacho said.
The former U-17 World Cup winning star will, however, need to rediscover his scoring form if he is to force his way back into the starting lineup, having been on the bench in Nigeria’s last two ties against Libya.
