Super Eagles midfielder, Mikel Agu has said he is excited to be back with the national team after a five-month absence and this is another opportunity to show His worth, reports.
Agu, who missed Nigeria’s World Cup party to Russia, is excited about returning to wear the green and white.
“It’s a very good feeling to be back after I was left out of the World Cup; its a good feeling for me and I’m happy to be here again. I’m grateful for the opportunity to play for my country,” Agu said.
When quizzed on his recent form since joining Setubal, the former Bursaspor midfielder revealed it was a decision that has now paved way for his return to the national team.
“I made the decision to move to Setubal from Porto because I knew I will get more playing time and it is a city where both the fans and club management like me. I needed to get my confidence and also fight for a return to the national team which I’m now able to achieve, so for me, it was a right move,” Agu added.
On making the team of the week in Portugal, Agu expressed joy and promised to continue to work harder to ensure he gets more recognition.
Having been a reliable backup to captain Mikel Obi during the World Cup qualifiers, the 25-year-old could start for the Eagles in Johannesburg after his impressive start to life in Vitoria Setubal.
