Super Eagles’ captain Mikel John Obi has returned to Nigeria for the first time in months, can confirm.

The Tianjin Teda midfielder who missed his side’s final games of the season through injury was pictured with his partner and children alongside his parents in their country home all smiles as he stepped up recovery ahead of the new season next year.

He took to his official Instagram account to confirm his arrival back home.

“Family #grandma #grandpa #cousins #Mimi #Ava,” Mikel posted.

However, it was Mikel’s wife who stole the show on their arrival to Nigeria as she danced in a joyous mood to a Nigerian song before saying that she will return with more dance steps on her next visit to the country.

She said: “What an amazing day! Thank you for such a warm welcome to all 26 Obis. Next time we’ll bring some moves too, although hard to compete. P.S. I was not aware of the spraying tradition#nigeria”

Despite not featuring in any of the Eagles’ five qualifiers, the former Chelsea midfielder could, however, return to lead the team, Rohr insisting that he remains a part of his squad heading into the competition proper in 2019.
