Super Eagles defender William Troost-Ekong has hailed his side’s resilient display to snatch all three points against AS Roma despite being on the back foot for most of the match, AOIFootball.com reports.
Ekong started his 13th onsecutive league match but had goalkeeper Juan Musso to thank as he made 9 key saves to keep out the boys from Rome from getting the breakthrough with Ekong also impressing in the heart of the defence.
A second half strike from Rodrigo de Paul was enough to earn Udinese all three points as they fought off a series of attacks from the away side to edge the tie 1-0.
“Thank you Lord. Great win against Roma tonight,” Ekong posted after the match.
Ekong featured for the entire match duration, underlining his importance to the team with a game rating of 7.2, completing 100% of his tackles and 58% of his passes. He also made a game night 12 clearances and won five of his eight duels contested.
The win however lifts Udinese off relegation for the first time this season to 16th position with 12 points from 13 matches.
