Nigeria’s representatives for the 2018/2019 CAF Inter-Club competition started their campaign on a mixed note with Lobi Stars falling 1-0 away in Cameroon whilst Enugu Rangers edged their Ethiopian opponents 2-0 in Enugu, AOIFootball.com reports.
In the CAF Champions League, NPFL side Lobi Stars suffered a narrow defeat in the hands of Cameroonian club UMS de Loum in the first leg of the preliminary rounds of the competition.
A second-half strike from Jean Abadan was all the hosts needed to seal victory with both sides meeting again in a week’s time in Makurdi to decide who progresses to the next round of the competition.
However, it was more of a cheering news in the CAF Confederations Cup as Nigeria’s only representative and Aiteo Cup winners Enugu Rangers edged out their Ethiopian opponents, Defence Force 2-0 to hold a slight advantage going into the second leg.
After a goalless first half affair, Godwin Aguda scored twice from the penalty spot on the 55th and 84th minute respectively to hand Gbenga Ogunbote and his lads the edge going into the return leg.
The Flying Antelopes will most definitely need to up their game if they are to progress to the next round of the competition.
