Super Eagles forward, Henry Onyekuru crashed out of the group stages of the UEFA Champions League for the second consecutive season when his Turkish club Galatasaray lost 2-0 away at Lokomotiv Moscow on Wednesday night, AOIFootball.com reports.
The 21-year-old started his third Champions League match of the season but the visitors fell behind two minutes to halftime when Ryan Donk put through his own goal to give Lokomotiv the lead.
The hosts then doubled their lead nine minutes into the second half via the boots of Vladislav Ignatjev with Galatasaray failing to find a way back despite the introduction of Sofiane Feghouli and Mariano to boost the team’s attack.
Despite failing to find the net, Onyekuru did give an above average performance with a game rating of 7.1, completing 63% of his passes, making 3 key passes and winning 7 of his 11 duels contested.
The result still keeps Galatasaray in third place, one point above fourth place Lokomotiv Moscow with the Turkish champions now needing a win in their last game against FC Porto to stand a chance of finishing third and making it into the Europa League knock out stages.
