Super Eagles’ goalkeeper, Francis Uzoho kept a clean sheet to help Elche move just above the relegation zone in their goalless draw at home to Sporting Gijon, reports.
The 20-year-old last featured in Elche’s 5-1 loss to Cadiz in November but returned to goal to help Elche to yet another vital point after a series of key saves all through the match.
Uzoho’s biggest test in the match came in the 74th minute when the visitors were awarded a penalty but the on-loan shot-stopper stood his ground as Nick Blackman fired his effort wide, much to the joy of Uzoho who has now kept three clean sheets in four Segunda division games.
He had an impressive game rating of 8.1, made five key saves, one punch and also made one key clearance to prevent a goal.
Elche now moves 18th on the 22-team log with 17 points from 17 matches played so far.
