Super Eagles’ forward, Kayode Olarenwaju will aim to become the second Nigerian player to seek progression into the knockout stages of this season’s UEFA Champions League when his Shakhtar Donetsk side host Olympique Lyon at the NSC Olympiyskiy Stadium in Kyiv on Wednesday tonight, reports.
Third place Shakhtar currently have five points from their previous five round of matches and must win their visitors who occupy second with 7 Points to stand any chance of qualification or risk dropping down to the less fancied Europa League.
The 25-year-old will, however, be targeting his first start in the competition having previously featured off the bench in two matches against former club Manchester City and the 2-2 draw in the first leg against Lyon in France.
The former Austria Wien striker joined the Ukrainian champions in March on loan from Manchester City before impressing the club’s hierarchy which splashed £3.3 million on him in a permanent four-year deal.
