Three-time African champions Nigeria will next year host Africa’s most successful team Egypt in an international friendly slated for March 26 in a yet to be named venue, can authoritatively confirm.
With just one international window available before next summer’s Africa Cup of Nations, both Nigeria and Egypt will use the match as dress rehearsal after Egypt already tabled a bid to host the biannual tournament.
The Egyptian Football Federation confirmed the news of the friendly date on its twitter page, revealing that both parties have already finalised all plans for the friendly to take place in Nigeria next year.
The Super Eagles will however be seeking their first win over the Egyptians in almost three decade after they drew 1-1 on their last visit to Nigeria, a result that ensured Nigeria failed to reach the 2017 AFCON in Gabon.
Before the friendly, Nigeria will first host Seychelles in a dead rubber AFCON 2019 qualifier on March 23 before playing host to the Pharaohs three days later.
