Aiteo Cup champions, Enugu Rangers edged closer to the group stages of the CAF Confederations Cup defeating Algeria’s USM Bel Abbes 2-0 at the Cathedral to progress 2-0 on aggregate, reports.
Both sides came into the clash with an equal chance of progression after the first leg in Algiers had ended goalless, but the Flying Antelopes soon took the initiative when Bright Silas rounded off the goalkeeper after six minutes to put the Enugu side in front.
The goal sprung Rangers into life and they deservedly got a second just on the stroke of half-time when Silas Again scored to hand them a two-goal lead going into the break.
Rangers continued from where they left off in the first half and could have added a third but were wasteful in front of goal. The two strikes were enough, however, to see them progress to the final round qualifications of the competition.
Rangers will now face one of the teams from the CAF Champions League to see if they can progress to the group stages of the competition.
