Super Eagles’ and CD Leganes center-back, Kenneth Omeruo put up a man of the match display to help stretch their unbeaten run to nine games in their 1-1 draw at home to Sevilla, AOIFootball.com reports.
In what was their last home game of the year, Omeruo took his place in the heart of a five-man back line, starting his 9th league game of the season. They, however, took the lead through Mikel Vesga after five minutes.
The away side piled pressure after going down but a stout defending from Omeruo saw Leganes maintain their slim 1-0 lead going into the halftime break.
Sevilla did, however, draw level in the closing stages of the match when Wissam Ben Yedder equalized to hand them a precious away point much to the frustration of Omeruo and his teammates.
The Nigerian was adjudged the man of the match following his superlative display, with a game rating of 7.5.
He also made a game-high 11 clearances, blocked 2 shots leading to goal and also made 4 key interceptions, completed 87.5% of his passes and won 5 of his 8 duels.
