Super Eagles’ and Wydad Athletic of Morocco player, Okechukwu Gabriel has set his sights on a better 2019 after enduring some setbacks with his Moroccan club, reports.
The 2018 CHAN Eagles’ star endured a tough first few months in Morocco where he had to battle injury but has however insisted that he is ready to deliver on all fronts for Wydad as they hope to do better in the CAF Champions League next year.
“Yes, it was a tough year for me. When I arrived it wasn’t easy to settle in quickly but the season started well for us and we are on top of the league. I did not play in the Champions League last time because I was cup-tied but hopefully next year, I will give my best in the competition.
“I will just have to keep working harder in training and try to make sure I take my chances when given. Overall, its been a tough start but I’m optimistic of a better 2019,” Gabriel posited.
The former Akwa United forward shone into prominence at the last African Nations Championship in Morocco where he led the country to a second place finish.
He was also part of the main Super Eagles’ team prior to the World Cup in Russia last summer.
