Nigerian forward, Stephen Odey began the year on a scoring note when he came off the bench to score the winning goal for FC Zürich as they came from two goals down to defeat FC Aarau 4-3 in a friendly played on Wednesday, reports.
In what was an eventful first 45 minutes that produced five goals the second division side raced into a two goal lead after 24 minutes when strikes from Varol Tasar (21) and Marko Schnewuwly (24) put them in them in full control of the match.
However they where pegged back five minutes to half time when a quick brace from Benjamin Kololli, first from 12 yards in the 40th minute before a cool finish two minutes later ensured both teams were heading into the break level.
Varol Tasar did however have a different opinion when he scored his second of the day and FC Aarau’s third to hand the visitors a 3-2 lead at half time.
But just like in the first half, Zürich struck back again via the boots of Laudim Zumbenr on the 70th minute to draw level before Odey scored the winning goal two minutes from time to hand his side their first win of the year.
The goal will come as a morale booster for the former MFM forward who will be hopeful of an even much better second half of the season after an impressive first stanza that saw him score 13 goals in all competitions.
