Super Eagles’  defender, Kenneth Omeruo continued his impressive display for Leganes as they ended a five-game winless run to defeat Huesca 1-0 at home, reports.
Having been rested during Wednesday’s cup defeat in the hands of Real Madrid, the Chelsea loanee returned to marshal his side’s defence in an adaptive 5-3-2 formation.
With both sides languishing at the bottom of the table, it was no surprise to see the first half ending goalless with Huesca contented to sit in their half and hit on the counter.
Knowing how important the three points will be in their quest for safety, Leganes came into the second half with more determination and were duly rewarded halfway through when Moroccan striker Youssef El-Nesyri finished off a pass from Jonathan Silva to hand Mauricio Pellegrino and his side all three points.
Omeruo did play the entire 90 minutes of the encounter and had a game rating of 7.2, keeping his 6th clean sheet, completing 100% of his tackles, won four duels and also completed 82% of his passes.
The win elevates Leganes to 14th on the log with 22 points from 19 games.
