Super Eagles’ midfielder, Wilfred Ndidi equaled his best Premier League goal tally for a single season after netting his second of the campaign in Leicester City’s 2-1 at the King Power Stadium to Southampton, reports.
The visitors were in full throttle from the blast of the whistle and took a deserved lead when James Ward-Prowse converted from the penalty spot to hand the Saints a surprise lead.
Leicester looked to have a way back into the game when 19-year-old Saints’ full-back, Yan Valery showed his inexperience by picking up a second yellow card just on the stroke of half time.
However, Shane Long netted just 90 seconds later to give the visitors a two-goal cushion heading into the break.
Wilfred Ndidi then pulled one back on the 58th minute after connecting with a cut back from Ricardo Pereira but Puel’s men were too predictable in their play and the excellently organized Saints held on to give new boss Ralph Hasenhuttl a third win in his seven Premier League games in charge.
With the goal, Ndidi has now equaled his best scoring Premier League record achieved in the 2016/2017 season where he scored twice after joining from Belgian side Gent in the winter of 2017.
The result ends a dismal seven days for Leicester after they were knocked out of the FA Cup by League Two side Newport County in their last outing.
