Super Eagles’ new kid on the block, Samuel Chukwueze scored his fifth goal of the season for Villarreal as they lost 3-1 to Espanyol to crash out of the Spanish Copa del Rey, reports.
Having not featured in the first leg which ended 2-2 eight days ago, the young star returned to the starting lineup to help guide his side to the next round but it was the hosts who took the initiative after the half-hour mark.
Two quick penalties in the space of three minutes set Espanyol on their way to the quarterfinals before Chukwueze halved the deficit three minutes to half time through a superbly curled shot from the edge of the box to give Villarreal contention hopes.
The away side pushed for the goal to level the scores on aggregate when Borja Iglesias struck his second of the game for Espanyol sixteen minutes from time to knock out Chukwueze and his team from the cup competition.
It was, however, a similar outcome for Moses Simon at the Camp Nou as the Nigerian also suffered elimination with his Levante side as they failed to capitalize on their first-leg lead, going down 3-0 to Barcelona.
Holding a 2-1 advantage from the first leg, the lead soon vanished when French forward Ousman Dembele struck twice in the space of 60 seconds to turn the tie in favour of the home team.
Lionel Messi then wrapped up the victory nine minutes after the second half when he netted to make it 3-0 on the night and 4-2 on aggregate, thus sending the defending champions through to the next round.
Moses featured for the entire match duration, earning a game rating of  6.0, completing 83% of his passes, making 1 key pass, winning 4 duels and also making 3 interceptions.
