Super Eagles’ and Bordeaux of France winger, Samuel Kalu continued his impressive start to the new year as he delivered a near perfect display to help the club beat 10-man Dijon at the Matmut Atlantique, reports.
The 21-year-old continued his steady rise in the French League, starting his 12th league game as Bordeaux earned back to back wins for the first time in 2019.
The Nigerian was a constant threat down the right flank in the first half but both sides failed to make any real opening with Romain Amalfitano’s 34 minutes red card the biggest talking point of the first 45 minutes.
Despite the numerical advantage, the hosts failed to break the deadlock, but with 13 minutes left on the clock, Bordeaux got the breakthrough after the impressive Kalu skipped past two markers before firing across goal for substitute Andres Cornelius to fire home.
The goal was enough for Bordeaux as they held on to claim their seventh win of the campaign to move 10th on the log with 28 points, six adrift of European qualification.
The Nigerian was voted man of the match for his all-round display, earning a game rating of 8.2, completing 65% of his passes, winning 10 duels and also making 2 interceptions and winning 100% of his tackles.
