Nigerian international, Ezekiel Bassey began his life in the Egyptian League on a winning note as he helped Al-Masry to a 1-0 win over Al-Mokawloon in a rescheduled match day 10 league fixture, reports.
The former Barcelona B star joined the team earlier in the week but was immediately thrown into the starting XI after impressing his managers during training.
Despite showing plenty of attacking prowess, the 22-year-old could not break a stubborn Al-Mokawloon defense before he was withdrawn four minutes after the hour mark for Samir El Housseni.
Al-Masry did, however, find the breakthrough when Burkinabe midfielder, Saidou Simpere converted from 12 yards to hand the hosts their first victory in 9 outings in all competitions.
An excited Ezekiel told afterward that he was happy to start on a winning note and hopes the team will build on the result ahead of their remaining league matches.
The win lifts Al-Masry to 10th on the log with 22 points from 18 games played so far.
