Ahead of their opening match at the Africa U-20 Championship in Niger on Saturday, Flying Eagles midfielder, Afeez Aremu has promised Nigerians the team will do well and raise the country’s banner high, reports.

The 19-year-old, who spoke to shortly before the team’s departure, promised that they will return with the world cup ticket and AFCON trophy.

“We are not going to let the country down in Niger; we promise to pick the world cup ticket and also bring the trophy back home to Nigeria,” Aremu assured.

On Super Eagles’ Coach, Gernot Rohr’s visit to the team’s camp before their departure, the IK Start box-to-box midfielder it was a morale booster to the team and they also promise to put his advice to good use in the tournament.

The seven-time champions will begin their campaign against Burundi on Saturday before also facing South Africa and Niger in Group A of the competition.

The competition will run between February 2-17 of with the four semifinalists representing the continent at the FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland later in the year.
