In what was a straight battle between two of Nigeria’s brightest forwards in Belgium, Liverpool loanee, Taiwo Awoniyi continued his resurgent since moving to Royal Excel Mouscron this winter as he grabbed an assist in his side’s 2-0 win over Sporting Charleroi which had Victor Osimhen on for the entire match duration, AOIFootball.com reports.
Having both found the net the previous week, both strikers were given the nod to lead their teams but it was Mouscron which took the half time initiative when Mergim Vojvoda scored eight minutes after the half-hour mark to put the hosts 1-0 up.
Sidney Friede then made it 2-0 on the hour mark before Awoniyi setup Marko Bakic seventeen minutes from time to complete a resounding 3-0 victory for the host.
With his, assist Awoniyi has now directly had a hand in three goals (2 goals, 1 assist) since his return last month after failing to register a single goal whilst he was on loan at Gent for the earlier part of the season.
The win takes Mouscron to 11th on the table with 26 points whilst Charleroi remains in 8th position with 36 points after 24 round of matches.
