Aiteo Cup champions, Enugu Rangers continued their impressive form in the CAF Confederations Cup as they defeated Salitas FC 2-0 in the the opening group phase, reports.
Playing in front of their home fans, the seven times Nigerian league champions wasted no time in taking the lead just two minutes into the clash.
It happened when Godwin Aguda connected well with Ajani Ibrahim to score his sixth goal of the campaign and Rangers’ first of the afternoon.
But despite dominating the rest of the half, the Nigerian side failed to increase their tally, missing a host of scoring chances in the first 45 minutes.
Rangers however came into the second half the hungrier of the two teams and should have doubled their lead on several occasions but were surprisingly wasteful in front of goal.
They then got their second of the match just on the hour mark via the boots of Beninoise attacker Isaac Loute to calm the nerves around the stadium.
The Gbenga Ogunbote-led boys then held on to claim all three points but must now work on their finishing ahead of their match day two clash away at Tunisian side CS Sfaxien.
