Two-time African Footballer of the Year, Mohammed Salah will miss the high profile friendly between the Super Eagles of Nigeria and the Pharaohs of Egypt in Asaba, the Egyptian Football Federation has confirmed, reports.

The Liverpool forward will remain with the English club and rest as he bids to secure the Premier League title for the Reds.

Salah was a key figure for Egypt last year and helped them reach the World Cup in Russia for the first time in 30 years and also played a vital role during the qualifiers for Egypt before they were named hosts by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) last month

“Mohamed Salah will not play the Niger game in the AFCON qualifiers or the Nigeria friendly. Ahmed Hegazi will probably also be left out of the squad,” EFA vice president Ahmed Shobier revealed.

Egypt is scheduled to face Niger on the 23rd of March in an AFCON qualifier before facing Nigeria in an international friendly three days later in Asaba.
